I recently attended a two-day guitar workshop by three-time flat-picking champion, Steve Kaufmann. I took both the beginner's class and the intermediate/advanced one, and they were both good value. Steve is both a fabulous teacher and a very pleasant person. His down-up picking style enables him to get great speed while maintaining volume and fluidity. I was turned on to Steve's music by Marc Light, who lent me a DVD of Steve playing with Doc Watson. The workshop was arranged by a local music store, the Homestead Pickin Parlor.
